Rather than the toe-pads that most geckos possess, they instead have spiny combs on their feet to allow them to run and climb in the sandy environments they live in.
The Common Wonder Gecko Teratoscincus scincus is often known as the Frog-Eyed Gecko due to its large, lidless eyes. They are mainly yellow or tan in colour, often with darker spots of colour, with a white belly and sides. They also have quite short tails when compared to other geckos.
If threatened, they can hiss and scrape the scales on their tails together to deter predators. If this fails and they are grabbed, they can detach their tails, and have very thin skin that tears easily to allow them to wriggle free and escape!
