Whitehouse Farm Centre is the largest Farm Park in Northumberland with a wide and varied collection of animals. We pride ourselves in being able to offer interactive & hands on animal activities for visitors of all ages. There’s more than just the animals here at Whitehouse Farm, we also have lots of indoor and outdoor play to make Whitehouse Farm a great day out. Most importantly we (the staff) are here to ensure that ALL of our visitors go home having had the best day out & experience ever and that they go home talking about it for days & weeks afterwards.

 Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge, if this is you “The Whitehouse Farm Kitchen” are looking for enthusiastic Catering Assistants to join our energetic team?

We are looking for someone to work alongside our Catering Manager and Catering Supervisor, who is hardworking, organised, a team-player, able to work unsupervised and can adhere to our existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities

This Role Involves: 

  • Assisting in Basic food preparation
  • Ensuring consistent and reliable food service.
  • General Housekeeping cleaning duties.  
  • Assisting in Basic food preparation

  • Clearing of tables & washing of dishes either manually or using a dishwasher
  • Assisting with the receipt and storage of deliveries in stock rotation.
  • Storing away all crockery, cutlery and glassware correctly
  • Assisting & preparation of Birthday Parties
  • Always having a friendly smile and conversing with our visitors in a courteous manner, delivering an outstanding level of Customer Service at all times.
  • Having the ability to work independently and being able to work unsupervised in outside food areas.
  • Being self-motivated & having the ability to work in a pressurised environment adopting ‘A Can-Do Attitude’
  • Working as part of a team and maintaining good working relations. 
  • Being responsible for own safety and not endangering colleagues/visitors in the workplace.

Essential Requirements:

  • 1 year’s food & beverage experience within a catering & events environment, 
  • Good people skills and being comfortable to communicate with all levels,
  • A self-motivator with the ability to cope in a pressurised environment,
  • Food & Hygiene Knowledge or Certificate to level 2 or recognised equivalent, 
  • Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Must be 16 years or over.

Desirable Preferences;

  • Must have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at C level & above or equivalent.
  • A willingness to learn new skills as required and undertake appropriate training, 
  • Must have the ability to adopt new working systems and assimilate new information quickly
  • First Aid qualification
  • Current Driving Licence.  

Whilst this is an interesting but demanding job which includes working Bank Holidays, Weekends, School Holidays we in return, will be able to provide you with sociable working hours with no split shifts or evening work and staff benefits.

Wages will meet with NMW and will be discussed at time of interview and will depend on qualifications and experience.

 Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge, if this is you “The Whitehouse Farm Kitchen” are looking for an enthusiastic Catering Supervisor to join our energetic team?

We are looking for someone to work alongside our Catering Manager, who is hardworking, organised, a team-player, able to work unsupervised and can adhere to our existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities.

This role involves:

  • Observing, maintaining and complying with Whitehouse Farm Centre’s values, policies & procedures relating to cash handling, security, hygiene regulations and Safer Food Better Business regulations.
  • Assisting the Catering Manager to run the day to day Catering operations.
  • Being hands on whilst supervising a team of catering assistants, preparing for and executing outstanding organisational skills with high standards of work.
  • Having the ability to carry out basic food preparation and to give practical assistance with kitchen duties as required.  
  • Having experience of stock control with the ability to undertake any ordering for the café keeping in line with stock rotation and within budget.
  • An understanding of how to control and monitor food portioning and wastage to attain G.P. targets.
  • Having good people management skills with the ability to effectively delegate & also train a small team alongside the Catering Manager.
  • Always having a friendly smile and conversing with our visitors in a courteous manner, delivering outstanding level of Customer Service at all times.
  • Being self-motivated & having the ability to work in a pressurised environment adopting ‘A Can-Do Attitude’
  • Assisting with correct level of staffing on a weekly rota basis ensuring that they are available for each operational day and to report any issues, absences, or staff related problems to Senior Management.
  • Ensuring that all staff meals/purchases are recorded in line with company procedures.
  • Being responsible for own safety and not endangering that of colleagues/visitors to the workplace
  • Must be willing to work in other areas of the farm as required to.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 year’s food & beverage experience within a catering & events environment, 
  • Food & Hygiene Certificate to supervisory level 3. Or a recognised equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent. 
  • Good people skills and being comfortable to communicate at all levels
  • A self-motivator with the ability to cope in a pressurised environment,
  • Must have the ability to adopt new working systems and assimilate new information quickly
  • Health & Safety knowledge.
