Facts

The Gargoyle Gecko Rhacodactylus auriculatus is so named for the small bumps on its head that resemble horns. They can be found in a wide variety of colours, ranging from plain brown or grey to bright orange and red! They are often patterned in spots and blotches of different colour as well.

They cannot climb sheer surfaces like most other geckos, but they are still very agile and adventurous, being able to leap almost 3 times their own body length! They are assisted in climbing by their prehensile tail- meaning it can be used as a 5th limb. They can still detach their tail like many other species of gecko in case they need to make a quick escape!
